Texas Association of School Boards has reelected Debbie Gillespie, of Frisco, to a three-year term on its Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 10, position A.

Gillespie has been on the Frisco Independent School District Board of Trustees since 2011 and is serving her second year as board secretary. With a degree from Southwest Texas State University, Gillespie worked in interior design and fashion merchandising before accepting a job with Dell Corporation in customer service and configuration management.

Upon moving from Austin to Frisco with her family in 1995, she was able to dedicate her time to raising her two children as well as becoming an active community volunteer. Both children are now FISD graduates.

Among various community activities, Gillespie served more than 10 years on the board of several PTA/PTOs, as well as three years as PTO president. She also has held the following positions: board member of the Frisco ISD Council of PTAs; volunteer and board officer for the National Charity League and Young Men’s Service League; volunteer and board member for Frisco Family Services and the Frisco High School Band Booster; neighborhood association village representative; and volunteer at other organizations, such as Special Olympics, Susan G. Komen, and Frisco FastPacs. Gillespie is a Leadership TASB 2014 graduate and a member of the LTASB Alumni Association.
